After many, many hours of rehearsals, practices, and preparations, this year's Crofton Middle School musical is finally upon us.
I was not a mom of a child who participated because my daughter had already committed to playing soccer and, after covering the musical for a number of years, I knew the time commitment required. With all of the activities that kids are participating in these days, it is absolutely remarkable that so many of them are able and WILLING to spend their free time working so hard for so long.
And it is not just a time commitment for students - parents are required to pony up hours as well. Whether it is ticket orders, publicity, program preparation, set building, sewing costumes, or concession planning, parents commit to putting in an amazing amout of time and energy to make this happen for their kids.
The reward? An outstanding show that their kids can be truly proud of. It provides lessons in work ethic, team building, cooperation, musicality, and many more.
Thank you to all volunteers who continue to provide this opportunity for kids. You are all exceptional and we send special "break a leg" wishes to all for opening night!
